On December 8, 1921, Fred R. Barnard published an advertisement in an advertising trade magazine, "Printers' Ink", with the slogan "One Look Is Worth a Thousand Words," attributed to an unnamed "Japanese philosopher." The ad promoted the use of images in advertising prints on trams. On March 10, 1927, a second advertisement appeared with the phrase, "One Picture is Worth Ten Thousand Words." There it is claimed that it is a Chinese proverb. The book "The Home Book of Proverbs, Maxims, and Familiar Phrases" quotes author Barnard, who said he retitled the slogan "as a Chinese proverb so that people would take it seriously." In German, Kurt Tucholsky used the saying in 1926 as the heading for a photo-illustrated article in the magazine "Uhu".
There are several short bios, blurbs, résumés, CVs and similar texts about me and my life out there on the internet. If you look for them, you will find some older ones, some newer ones and some stranger ones. I know how much they actually tell you about me, but accuracy is not an important thing in this medium. However, there are certain requirements based on legal conditions and circumstances, and there are also some practical reasons and factors for adding yet another version here on a web page titled "information".
Holger Lang is an Austrian artist dedicated to a wide range of media. In addition to focusing on experimental film, animation, and installation, he works on documentaries, and in conjunction with music, text, photography, and performance. In his spatial installations and object montages, found, appropriated, and adapted objects are often associated with new and original elements. Ephemeral and short-lived works, often outside an established cultural scene, are a central aspect of his work. He designs temporary public media installations and interventions as part of the "mutual loop" artist cooperation. Since 1995, he has taught in various areas of media art, aesthetics and artistic design at a private university in the USA and Austria. He also gives lectures and workshops at international universities and is continually invited for guest teaching and seminars. His artistic, scientific and teaching activities include frequent, sometimes long-term travel and stays abroad. Since 2010, he has been running a gallery in Vienna and an interdisciplinary festival and symposium for experimental film and animation that he founded. As a freelance curator and board member of ASIFA Austria, he has represented and presented artistic Austrian filmmaking at national and international events, film series, festivals and institutions for many years.

I do not present my work actively online.
There are some bits of it floating around on the internet,
but that is based on random chance and accidental coincidences.
Some of my work is online for a longer time and in older,
often poorer technical quality formats.
Most of it is offline and I prefer that.
But - good luck searching ...
